You are an adult. You are a professional, and you are advancing in your career.
You want to take the next step, and you know that an opening will be available in your department within the next year or so.
And yet … you would be hesitant to apply if a position came open today.
It’s not because of your work. You have been told repeatedly that your bosses appreciate what you are doing.
It’s not because of your work ethic. You make it a point to get your work done on time.
It’s because of your teeth. You know that moving up means more face-to-face interaction with clients, and you worry that your teeth (which aren’t as straight as you would like) may be a distraction during meetings.
You could let your opinion of your teeth hold you back. You could move forward in spite of your discomfort
Or you could call Lapalco Family Dental if you live in or near Marrero, LA. We offer two kinds of short-term orthodontic treatments in our office that could help you feel more comfortable with your smile.
Which Option Is Right For You?
We offer two kinds of short-term “braces” in our practices. (You will understand the quotation marks as you read on.)
ClearCorrect and Six-Month Smiles both offer effective ways to improve the appearance of your smile. We will explain the differences between them in a moment.
Our dentist can go into greater detail about them if you schedule a consultation at our office. When he understands what you would like to do, he can help you decide the right option for you.
For now, we’ll focus on the features that set each of these treatments apart from traditional braces.
► If Discretion Is Important
As a working adult, we can understand why you may not want to get traditional metal braces.
It’s hard to conceal the fact that you are wearing them, and the brackets and wires could make you feel self-conscious when in meetings, where they are with clients or co-workers.
If this is a concern, then we may recommend ClearCorrect instead. This kind of treatment has sometimes been called clear braces although it does not involve any brackets or wires.
Getting ClearCorrect starts when we scan your mouth, take pictures, and make impressions, all of which are sent to ClearCorrect. There team with use computer-aided design to create a series of plastic aligners for you to wear.
Each aligner is made of a transparent plastic that makes them virtually undetectable while you are wearing them. This means you can go through your orthodontic treatment without calling attention to what you are doing.
ClearCorrect also offers some other benefits over traditional braces. For starters, you can remove your aligners during meals and when brushing and flossing your teeth. This means you can continue to eat all the foods that you like during your treatment, and you won’t need any special tools to make sure nothing gets caught between your braces and your teeth.
► If Speed Is Your Priority
On the other hand, you may prefer to get your treatment completed is as little time as possible. In that case, we may recommend Six-Month Smiles instead.
Six-Month Smiles are more like traditional braces, but as the name implies they work in less time.
Traditional braces take about two years to finish moving your teeth on average. Six-Months Smile takes an average of six months. (The actual length of either treatment could be longer or shorter depending on your specific alignment issues.)
Six-Month Smiles uses ceramic brackets. While these are not as transparent as ClearCorrect aligners, they are less attention-grabbing than metal brackets.
The reason Six-Month Smiles can work so quickly is because they are focused on the teeth in the front of your mouth. Traditional braces are used to move all your teeth, including the bigger, heavier molars in the back of your mouth.
By focusing on the smaller, lighter, and most visible teeth, we can transform the appearance of your smile is less time.
If you would prefer to complete to save time on your treatment, this may be the best option for you.
