Technology & Comforts
Thanks to modern technology, dentistry is now faster and more comfortable than ever. Dr. Landry and our team work hard to stay on top of the latest advancements in the field so we can consistently provide our patients with top-of-the-line care. Whenever you come to Lapalco Family Dental, you can trust that you’re getting the very best of what 21st-century dentistry has to offer. To learn more about some of the great tools we use every day, simply read on below.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, better known as “laughing gas,” has been used for over 100 years to help take the edge off of dental nerves, and it’s so gentle that it can even be used safely with children. If going to the dentist makes you feel a little uneasy, this may be exactly what you need. All you have to do is inhale the odorless, colorless gas through a small nasal mask to feel completely relaxed in a matter of minutes. You’ll keep it on your entire visit, and once a procedure is over and the mask is removed, the gas’ effects wear off almost instantly, allowing you to quickly go back to their day.
This small, camera-tipped wand can be maneuvered easily through the mouth to capture high-resolution images of the teeth and gums that can then be displayed on a large, chairside monitor. These images will not only make it easier for our team to catch dental problems, but they will finally give you the chance to see your smile from your dentist’s perspective. This will help you gain a much deeper understanding of your oral health and allow your dentist to explain exactly what they are seeing.
X-rays are a fantastic diagnostic tool dentists have been using for decades to help them catch potential problems hidden beneath the surfaces of the teeth. To make them even better, our practice has chosen to upgrade and only use digital x-rays. With them, we’re not only able to create images much faster than traditional, film-based x-rays, but we can do it while exposing our patients (and us!) to up to 90% LESS radiation.
CT / Cone Beam Scanner
This device is really exciting because it enables us to create a fully 3D x-ray image of your teeth, jaw, and other surrounding structures so we can gain an even deeper understanding of your dental health. This tool will not only help us learn more about you, but it’ll also enable us to precisely plan more complicated procedures such as dental implant placement. With it, we’ll be able to find the best possible locations for your implants as well as avoid any sensitive nerves, ensuring both a successful treatment and easy recovery.
